A 23-year-old suspected cultist, Akinleye Yusuf has been remanded in Ilesa prison by an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly killing a woman in Osogbo.
The murder was said to have been committed on the 5th day of August, 2017, around 06:50am at Old Garage, Osogbo.
Akinleye was alleged to have unlawfully killed one Bintu Anifowose by shooting her with a gun which led to her death.
The accused, popularly known as “Baba Esu” was also said to be a member of an unlawful confraternity known as “Aiye Black Axe Secret cult”
The prosecutor, Inspector Oladoye Joshua told the court that the accused committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Sections 312 and 316 and punishable under Sections 319(1) and 64 (a)(b) of the Criminal code CAP 34 volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The accused was represented by Mr. Okobe Najite, but his plea was not taken owing to the magnitude of the case.
In a different case, the accused person was alleged of illegal possession of gun and robbery.
Similarly, the suspect had been arraigned alleged robbery and illegal possesion of firearms.
The accused person was caught around Oke-Fia, Osogbo with an unlawful possession of one local made single barrel size gun at about 5:00pm
The accused who armed himself with dangerous weapons robbed one Funke Ogunwoye of her Tecno Mobile phone valued (N5,500) and cash of 297,000 all totally valued 302,500.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye stated that the accused committed the offences contrary to section 6(b) and punishable under sections 1(2)(a)(b) 3(1) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap Rll Vol.14 laws of Federation Nigeria, 2004.
The accused person plea was not taken.
The magistrate, O.A Ayilara, remanded him in Ilesha prison custody.
He then adjourned the case till 30 of March for mention.
