Police Rescue 12 Children Abducted From Nasarawa
The Federal Capital Terrritory, FCT, Police Command has foiled an attempt to traffic 12 children who were abducted from Nasarawa State.
The operation, conducted by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad 74 (RRS 74), took place on Friday, 9th February 2024, around 12:55 am.
According to SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, the interception took place when one Muhammad Isah of Kafanchan, Kaduna, was apprehended in a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number APP 489 XE.
The vehicle was transporting four male and eight female underage children to an undisclosed location, which was later revealed to be in Ogun State.
According to Adeh, upon preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the children, aged between five to 16 years, hailed from Akwanga LGA of Nasarawa State.
They were reportedly being trafficked by one Pastor Simon Kado and Jesse Simon Kado, both of whom are currently in police custody.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, stated that the safety of residents remains the utmost priority of the police force.
He commended the swift action of the RRS 74 operatives and urged residents to remain vigilant, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities through the following emergency lines – 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883; PCB: 09022222352.
Efforts are in top gear, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command, to reunite the rescued children with their respective families.
