Police Sack Three Officers Over Kidnapping, Extortion in Abia
Three policemen serving under the Abia State Police Command have been dismissed over alleged extortion and abduction of civilians along the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway.
The officers, along with two civilians, were arrested by policemen from the Abayi Division, Aba, while armed with an electric baton, an assault rifle, and a Beretta pistol.
They allegedly used a minibus to abduct victims, threatening them and demanding ransom from their families.
Confirming their dismissal, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Maureen Chinaka, stated, “As a result, the public is hereby notified that: Force No. 501356 Sergeant Jonas Nnamdi, attached to Area Command, Aba.

“Force No. 511844 Corporal James Daniel, attached to the Department of Operations, Umuahia, and Force No. 511853 Corporal Ifeanyi Emeka, attached to Eziama Division, have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) effective today, 07/02/2025, and have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for prosecution with the other civilian accomplices.”
She further stated, “This action follows the administrative disciplinary measures taken by the command.
“Their official accoutrements have been retrieved by the Command’s Provost and they cease to be members of the force.”
According to Chinaka, the state Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, maintains a strict stance against corruption and unprofessional conduct, adding “Discipline and professionalism is the bedrock of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The command does not condone the activities of bad eggs in the force and is committed to the vision of the Inspector General of Police in ensuring a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law compliant and people-friendly police.”
