Police Summon Pastor Okafor Over Alleged Multiple Rape, Other Offences
The Lagos State Police Command has invited the Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, to report at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, over allegations of multiple rape and other offences likely to cause a breach of public peace.
Okafor was served with an invitation letter and is expected to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the SCID by 10 am on Monday.
In a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered a thorough investigation into the allegations against the cleric.
“The Lagos State Police Command has invited Pastor Chris Okafor in connection with allegations of multiple rape, other sexual offences, and conduct likely to cause a breakdown of law and order in the state,” the statement said.
The invitation follows several complaints regarding alleged sexual offences and other acts capable of undermining public peace.
“The Commissioner of Police has directed the DC SCID to carry out a thorough investigation into the multiple criminal allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor. The pastor has been duly served through his legal representative and is expected to cooperate fully with the investigation,” the statement added.
The police said adequate security had been provided for alleged victims and encouraged anyone with credible information to come forward.
The identities of victims and witnesses will be fully protected throughout the investigation.
The command assured the public that the investigation will be professional and unbiased, stressing that no one will be shielded because of status or influence. “Justice must prevail in this matter,” the statement concluded.
The probe follows online reports in mid-December 2025 that accused Okafor of murder and other criminal acts.
The allegations quickly gained widespread attention.
One of the most notable claims came from Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who alleged in Instagram videos on December 14, 2025, that she had a nine-year sexual relationship with Okafor beginning in 2017. She accused him of breaking promises of marriage, sharing explicit content, and contributing to the breakdown of her previous marriage.
In response, Okafor appeared before his congregation on New Year’s Day to apologise for past “mistakes,” kneeling at the pulpit and seeking forgiveness without providing details on the allegations.
Amid the controversy, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria reportedly considered sanctions against him, while Okafor stepped down from his pastoral duties as the scandal continued to draw attention online.
