THE Nigeria Police Force, Osun Command, has expressed its readiness to investigate the Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in the state, Hon. Israel Famurewa over alleged inciting comment he made against members of The Osun Progressives (TOP).
Famurewa, who is the Director General of IleriOluwa Campaign Organisation, in a video being circulated on social media, asked members of the party to wage war against the TOP members. He made the statement at a meeting in Ede.
Few days after he made the statement, members of TOP were attacked by hoodlums on three different occasions during their meetings in Ikirun and Ijebu-Jesa and Ifon.
However, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olawale Olokode, at a press conference last Sunday said the police was working on a petition received against Famurewa over his comment.
Olokode added that all the petitions submitted by members of The Osun Progressives have been treated with due diligence.
He said: “I wish to state that we have been working on every petition received. The latest one has to do with the SUBEB Chairman which came to my knowledge recently, and our state Criminal Investigation Department under the Deputy Commissioner is seriously working on it.
“The petitioners came a couple of days ago, and they were assured of our readiness to get to the root of the matter.
