Policeman Found Dead Near Sawmill Hours After Paying For Planks
A policeman who was said to have on Tuesday paid for planks to be delivered on Wednesday was found dead beside the Onibueja sawmill, where he paid for the materials.
Circumstances surrounding the death of the policeman from provost section at the Zone 11 headquarters of the Police in Osogbo, State of Osun, are unclear yet, but sources said he was seen at the sawmill in Osogbo where he paid for planks.
An Itel phone, a wrist watch and one ATM card were found on the corpse.
One of the residents of the area said, “We saw this man here yesterday. He came to this sawmill to buy planks. He paid for the plank but he did not go with the planks. The plank seller was expecting the man to come and carry the planks today. We are surprise to see his dead body this morning.”
The corpse was discovered by the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corpse (NSCDC) and when the men discovered that he was a policeman, they quickly informed the police authority in the state.
The Public Relation Officer of the NSCDC, Mr Wale Afolabi told journalists that upon the discovery that the deceased was a policeman, the NSCDC men contacted the police and detectives arrived at the scene immediately.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the Zone 11 Police Headquarters comprising Osun, Oyo and Ondo states, AIG Agboola Osodi Glova confirmed the identity of the late policeman. He said the circumstances surrounding his death would be investigated.
