“Political Leaders Tasked On Fairness To All”

Political Leaders have been challenged to use their stay in office midwife the developmental quest of the masses and chart the course for societal emancipation.

They were also charged to always ensure fairness in the equitable distribution of wealth to the citizenry.

The Grand Mufty of Osogboland, Sheik Maruf Ishola stated this in a sermon at the Special Prayer organized by the aides of the Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Dr Ajibola Basiru to mark his 48th birthday.

Sheik Ishola who noted that leadership is a call to service wants them to use the instrument of government to better the lives of the less privileged and the downtrodden in the society.

“Political Leaders should see their positions as an opportunity to do well. They must avoid looking down on the less privileged in the society and work assiduously towards fairness to all.”

“They must also understand that the people are at the centre of their policies thereby making all concerted efforts to better their lot. As a leader, you should not forget your parents. You owe your success in life to them and the creator.”

“You must be just and see to the non-deprivation of the entitlement of the masses. By doing this, you will make progress and be more successful as a leader.”

The erudite Islamic Scholar also charged followers of political leaders to be sensitive and always stand for peace irrespective of the political situation.

Sheik Ishola stressed further “We cannot afford to break the progress and the chain of development achieved so far. As followers, we must not fan the embers of disunity. We must cooperate with the leaders to achieve the desired result.”

Prayers were offered for continued guidance and progress for Dr Basiru, his household, the people of Osun Central Senatorial District and the State of Osun in general.

Dignitaries at the event include the wife of the Celebrator, Mrs Habibat Basiru, the mother of the celebrant, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Kolapo Alimi, Chairman, Osogbo South LCDA, Hon Akeem Olaoye, family members, aides, clerics, supporters and well wishers.
