The death of Sheikh Yusuf Ali, a highly respected Islamic scholar who hailed from Kano state, has thrown the state in mourning.
Muslihu Yusuf Ali, his son, announced the demise of his father via a social media post on Sunday.
According to Muslihu’s post, the late cleric had previously served as a Sharia Court judge in Kano State. After retiring from this position in 2009, he continued to dedicate his life to Islamic teachings and the practice of spiritual healing.
The death of Sheikh Yusuf Ali has cast a pall over Kano state, as residents grieve the loss of this renowned Islamic scholar.
His passing was officially disclosed by his son, Muslihu Yusuf Ali, in a Facebook post on the evening of November 5, as reported by The Punch.
Muslihu’s post also conveyed details regarding the funeral arrangements, with the service scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Murtala Mosque in Kano.
Muslihu’s post included a heartfelt message:
“Update! ‘…funeral is tomorrow, Monday 1:30pm at Murtala mosque Kano. We pray Allah to rest his gentle soul in Jannatul firdaus, Dad.”
However, the specific circumstances surrounding his death have not been disclosed to the media.
Yusuf Ali, the late Islamic scholar, was born in 1950 in Gaya town, Kano State. He embarked on his legal career in 1974, starting as a Sharia Court Scribe and gradually ascending the ranks to become a chief clerk, assistant registrar, registrar, Upper Sharia Court Judge, and director at the Upper Sharia Court. Following his retirement in 2009, the cleric dedicated himself to Islamic teachings and spiritual healing.
As per Muslihu’s post, the funeral (Jana’iza) for the late Sheikh Yusuf Ali will be held at his residence in Tudun Maliki quarters, Murtala Mosque Kano, at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 6.
