Poverty And Injustice Caused EndSars Protest, Boko Haram And Others ~Okorocha

 

The former Governor of Imo State and Senator Representing Imo East at the Senate, Senator Rochas Okorocha has made it cleared that the recent #EndSARS protest against police brutality, Boko Haram insurgency, and other security challenges in country is absolutely caused by poverty and injustice in the land.

Okorocha made this statement last weekend at the award presentation programme in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

It was ealier announced some days ago that the former Imo State Governor will be honoured

On Saturday, Okorocha was honoured with the award of “Most Outstanding Friend of Ibadan land”by by the central council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII)

The Award presentation was done by the King himself who said it is in recognition of Okorocha’s contribution to Education, especially for the indigent children through his free education/tuition free programme in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking at the award presentation, Okorocha querries how orphans and vulnerable children lack access to quality and functional education.

Okorocha said, “I established the free schools to give them an opportunity to become valuable members of society.

“I am doing this with an endless efforts with all my family members and despite all, the evil of injustice and poverty is still ravaging our nation.

“I am saying it is injustice and poverty that resulted to the so called Boko Haram, Kidnapping, Banditry, Civil Unrest and the recent EndSARS protests across board.

He commended the Ibadan King and indigenes of Ibadan for finding him qualified for the award.

The former Imo State Governor said, “I am sure this award came to me because you have considered my little contribution of saving the lives of these poor Nigerians, it will go a long way to bring about unity, progress and peace in Nigeria. You will agree with me that it is not common to see an Igbo man being honoured in Yorubaland, what we are doing now is building a bridge of peace and unity.”

Okorocha Publicly declared his commitment to do more for the people.
