The Student Union Government (SUG), Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, has called on the institution’s governing council to prioritise students’ welfare for better academic performance.

The school SUG president, Marvellous Ayanyemi, made the call on the sidelines of the 2025 Union Day celebration on Thursday in Ede.

Ayanyemi stated that the union had held several meetings with the school management on issues pertaining to students’ welfare and other concerns.

He expressed hope that the issues would be addressed in due course.

The SUG president stated that the celebration was a testament to the union’s achievements, including donating a shuttle bus and building a secretariat.

“We are donating a mini shuttle bus on behalf of the union to our students to ease their transportation problems between the North and South campuses.

“We also thank the management of the institution for the commendable act of allocating land for the union’s secretariat.

“What we have done today has never been done for so long by other SUG administrations, including donating a bus and securing land for our secretariat,” he said.

Earlier, the chairman of the Federal Polytechnic Ede Governing Council Board, Taiwo Olaiya, commended Ayanyemi and his team for their good work, particularly the donation of a bus.

Mr Olaiya promised that the proposed secretariat would receive speedy attention to facilitate student activities.

He added that the names of the current SUG President and his executives would be engraved on marble after the secretariat’s completion, allowing incoming students to appreciate their contributions.
