Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, has issued a two-hour ultimatum to Fulani residents in Igboho, Oyo State, demanding the release of recently abducted victims allegedly being held by kidnappers linked to the community.

Igboho gave the warning during a meeting held at the palace of the town’s monarch, where traditional leaders, elders and Fulani residents were present.

In a video sighted on X by OSUN DEFENDER, the activist expressed outrage over the recurring cases of kidnapping in the town, accusing some Fulani residents of being responsible for the crimes.

He alleged that in a previous incident, kidnappers abducted a pregnant woman and demanded ransom from her family. According to him, the person who delivered the ransom was killed, while the pregnant woman was also murdered despite payment being made. He claimed that only one victim was eventually released.

“We cannot continue to fold our arms and watch people being abducted in Igboho. I am a confirmed son of Igboho. You kidnapped a pregnant woman, killed the person who brought the ransom and still murdered the woman after collecting the money,” he said.

The activist questioned why the kidnappings continued unabated and accused the perpetrators of targeting Yoruba residents.

“You know your children are behind these crimes. Since they started kidnapping people and collecting ransom, has any Fulani person been abducted? It is Yoruba people that are being kidnapped,” he stated.

Referring to the latest kidnapping incident, Igboho demanded the immediate release of a woman, her child and her younger brother, whom he said were recently abducted.

“I am speaking on behalf of the people of Igboho and the king. You have a maximum of two hours to produce the woman, her child and her younger brother. Tell those who are holding them captive to release them immediately,” he said.

He warned that failure to comply with the ultimatum would attract severe consequences for those allegedly involved and their collaborators.

“Go and tell your people, including those who do not understand Yoruba, that this should be the last time such a thing will happen in Igboho. If anything happens to the victims, those responsible will face dire consequences,” Igboho added.

The ultimatum followed growing concerns among residents over insecurity and repeated cases of kidnapping in the community, which local sources alleged had been traced to criminal elements operating within the area.
