A Ghanian Professor, Ato Essuma, has emerged as the 20th Chairman of the West African Examinations Council WAEC.
The election took place during the 69th meeting of Council held virtually from March 22-26, 2021.
A statement by the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr. Abiodun Adukoju, noted that Essuman takes over from Mr. Baboucarr Bouy from the Gambia for three years.
The top three performers out of 2,122,844 in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) West African region were also honoured.
Three of them, all from Ghana are: Master Cecil Tetteh Kumah (first); Master Godfred Aseda Obeng (second); and Miss Afua Manukure Ansa.
