Goods and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed in a night fire which razed a part of Gambarou Market, the second biggest market in Maiduguri metropolis, the capital of Borno State.
This is coming five months after a similar night fire razed part of the international market in March 2023.
The cause of the inferno could not be immediately ascertained, but firefighters were still battling to put it out.
An eyewitness who spoke on the incident said the fire broke out from the shops of spices and grains sellers section of the market.
He said security operatives had been deployed to the market to prevent hoodlums from stealing properties.
