THE Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Francis Fadahunsi, has said that establishment of a Federal University of Education, Ilesa, as proposed in his sponsored bill, will bring about job creation and empowerment for his constituents and the state at large.
Fadahunsi, on April 16, 2022 presented a bill for the establishment of a Federal University for first reading at the plenary of the Senate.
The bill came few weeks after Governor Adegboyega Oyetola approved the conversion of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to a full-fledged University.
Speaking with OSUN DEFENDER, the spokesperson to the Senator, Mr Sam Segun, stated that the essence of proposing a federal university in Ilesa is to ensure job creation and empowerment of the people.
Segun disclosed that Fadahunsi has been lobbying Governor Oyetola and the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for the actualisation of the project.
He said: “The intention behind the project is that, basically, Senator Fadahunsi wants job creation for the people and that has been a major reason he joined politics. He is after empowering and taking people off the street.
“If you observe very closely, you will notice that the major bills he has sponsored at the National Assembly since he came in has being establishment bills.
“When you have a university within your area, there will be a quest for the people to go to school. So, we felt this is the right time to bring such project to the people in that constituency. We are optimistic that the project will come into fruition before the 2023 general election.”
