Protest In Ondo Over Abduction Of 300-Level Undergraduate
Scores of students under the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Monday protested against the abduction of a 300-level student of Computer Engineering in Al-Hikmah University in Kwara State, Akindoyo Gideon, in Irele council area of Ondo State.
Osun Defender reports that the victim was abducted at his parent’s farm located at Lumeko village located between Igbobini and Ode Irele Communities in Ese Odo and Irele council area of the state.
Gideon, it was learnt who travelled to meet with his parents and later went to the farm with his motorcycle to harvest cassava before he was reportedly abducted on the farm.
His motorcycle was later discovered on the farm while his whereabouts remained unknown
As a result, the students protested and displayed placards with various inscriptions such as ‘Bring back Gideon dead or alive’, ‘Mr Governor, we need UR Help,’ ‘ Akindoyo Gideon missing since 11th June 2024, Where is him?’, ‘Gideon where are you,’ among others.

The senate President of NANS, Comrade Henry Olukunomo, while speaking during the protest pleaded with the abductors to release him.
He said, ” We are calling on those who kidnap comrade Gideon to release him to us dead or alive. If he is dead, they should release his body to us to give him befitting burial but if he is alive they should release him to relieve his parents from unnecessary trauma.
“We have gathered here to solidarise with the people of Irele and Igbobini, and we are using this opportunity to call on the governor to end the lingering crisis between the two communities.“
