Protest: Plateau Police Arrest TikToker For Threatening To Unleash Violence

The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a TikToker, Suleiman Yakubu, for allegedly threatening to unleash terror on security operatives during the forthcoming nationwide protest.

The command revealed that the suspect in the viral video clip was heard inciting the public to attack security operatives in the state.

According to the police, the young man with a TikTok account, “Dam-Mallam68,” also urged intending protesters to burn down critical state and private infrastructure in Plateau State as part of the activities for the August 1 protest.

A statement issued on Sunday by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Alfred Alabo said the suspect who is a resident of Jos North, was picked at Ahmadu Bello Way, Jos through an impeccable informant.

He said, while in custody, the suspect confessed to being the one in the viral video.

“In view of the above, the Commissioner of Police wishes to state that the police will intensely resist any attempt by mischief makers to plunge the state into chaos.

“He stressed the need for peace to remain untempered in the state amidst the before, during, and after the protest.

“The Plateau State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, also urges the good people of Plateau State to be law abiding and refrain from making inciting comments that will threaten peace and security in the state,” the statement added.
