President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), warning the Labour movement to know that it is not the only voice of the people.
Tinubu gave the warning on Thursday at the commissioning of the Lagos Red Line Train connecting from Agbado to Oyingbo.
Tinubu who came hard on the Labour, said the Labour Union should understand that despite its acclaimed rights and freedom, it cannot fight an administration which is just nine months old.
He vowed that he would not go back on his reforms despite resistance by those he called ‘smugglers’.
He also reiterated that corruption is fighting back and vowed that the government would exterminate corruption.
Tinubu said the current hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the exchange rate is temporary, begging Nigerians to persevere.
He said, “There is very bright light at the end of the tunnel. Nigeria will be out of its economic problems, we just need to persevere and work hard.
“Allow me to throw a jab here. The Labour Union should understand that you are not the only with freedom and rights.
“If you want to participate in the electoral process, meet us in 2027. If not maintain peace. You are not only voice of Nigeria.”
The President said the commissioning of the Red Line was the culmination of the vision he nursed 25 years ago when he was governor of the state, calling for more collaboration between the Ministry of Transport and other states to develop railway infrastructures across the country.
