Purported Strike Notice False, Disregard, Yobe NLC Tells Workers

The Nigeria Labour Congress, Yobe State Chapter, has described a circular circulating on social media platforms urging Yobe State civil servants to initiate a statewide strike as entirely false and unfounded.

In a statement on Saturday, signed by the state chairman of the NLC, Muktar Tarbutu, noted that the joint committee comprising representatives from the government and NLC has successfully concluded negotiations on the new minimum wage.

According to the statement, the report has been submitted to Governor Mai Mala Buni for review and approval.

The statement emphasised, “You may recall that the joint committee between the government and NLC has finalised negotiations on the New Minimum Wage, and the report has already been forwarded to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Honourable Mai Mala Buni CON, for his consideration and approval.

“Therefore, through this notice, NLC Yobe State Council urges all Yobe State civil servants to disregard the purported circular and continue with their normal duties and activities. We also advise Yobe State civil servants and the general public to exercise caution regarding fake news and circulars, and to verify information from credible sources before dissemination.”

Tarbutu emphasised that the Yobe State NLC is dedicated to upholding and safeguarding the rights and welfare of Yobe State workers.

“The NLC has instructed all Yobe State civil servants to ignore the false circular and proceed with their regular work routines. The public is reminded to be vigilant against fake news and circulars and to verify information from reliable sources before sharing.

“The Yobe State NLC remains steadfast in its commitment to championing and safeguarding the rights and interests of Yobe State workers,” the statement added.
