Barely two weeks after he lost his appeal at the Supreme Court in his desperate bid to unmeritoriously become the Governor in the land of virtue, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke is beginning to lose his mind. With his mental capacity abysmally too low to manage emotion, what would trail Adeleke’s current height of frustration one can only conjecture.
After the apex court wielded its gavel by rightly affirming the election of Adegboyega Oyetola as the authentic Governor of Osun State, leaving him (the loser) with no other option than to accept the final verdict in good faith, one would expect the opportunist ex-Senator to have realised that not everything can money buy.
Whoever advised Adeleke to publicly accept the court’s verdict and congratulate Oyetola on his victory should realise the danger of leaving him too soon in the lurch; such abandonment at this trying time can make him run berserk.
His diatribe against Governor Oyetola as recently published by an online news medium smacks more or less of frustration gone awry.
According to the news, the inexperienced Adeleke described Oyetola as a ‘usurper’ and a ‘false progressive’, foisted on the people of the state. He practically threw a tantrum at the 8-year reign of the former Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in a manner reminiscent of a common critic with no clue of what governance entails.
The man should be advised to engage a lesson teacher or enrol in an adult class and prepare hard to pass his O’level subjects including Government, to learn the rudiments of governance. That is just the beginning, which to the dancing senator appears as difficult as the task of the Sisyphus. He has a long way to go.
Between him and Oyetola, even the blind could tell a competent contender from an empty pretender. Joke apart, Senator Adeleke is no match with Oyetola, who is a reasoned Administrator and a successful industrialist.
People’s love and preference for him was evident in the mammoth crowd of people who trooped out in thousands to jubilate over Oyetola’s victory in court. The people have spoken, the court has spoken and the God’s will has prevailed.
Adeleke should come out of his daydream and his erroneous belief that he had a majority vote. The story of how he emerged through fraudulent PDP primaries is still visibly etched in our memory. Too bad for him, his paymaster who bankrolled his campaign and wooed voters with money has recently thrown in the towel, apparently tired of spending without getting results.
If he still has the guts, let him come out to run a confirmation test of his popularity in 2022. Not with his ugly, exasperating dance steps we watch on social media! He should try such steps in the public to see how much he will be scorned by the people across the State.
Before his frustration finally gets out of control, he should be advised to stay humble, shut his wagging tongue and stop ruffling feathers with people who by all standards remain his big brothers as he is already losing the support of the few who perhaps are still sympathetic of his woes.
