There have been reactions as the Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, directed all shop owners on campus to reduce transfer charges at #10.
This was revealed in a statement jointly signed by the Students Union President, Abass Akinremi, Welfare Director, Folakan Paul and Secretary-General, Akinboni Opeyemi.
According to the statement, “Sequel to the meeting held with the sellers on campus premises, we had reached a conclusion that the transfer charges imposed on students across our campus premises be reduced to #10 irrespective of the amount of goods purchased.
“Before this meeting, a letter has been passed across requesting the sellers to reduce their charges to #10 which some of you protested. This led to the meeting with which this was agreed upon.
“The Union would like to implore every shop owner on our campus premises to adhere to this as failure to it will attract penalty from the union.”
