The incoming governmnet in Osun has been tasked to focus on job creation and reduce restiveness among youths across the state.

This admonition was given by a human right activist, Comrade Emmanuel Olowu in  Osogbo.

He said, the rate at which thuggery is growing in the state is becoming alarming and it should be curbed as early as possible through provision of decent job across local governments of the state.

“It is imperative for political parties across the state to bury their differences and focus on governance and the issues that unites the state than those that divides it. Osun is bigger than everyone and it is our common heritage that must be protected by all irrespective of political, ethnic and religious differences.

“Another issue that is of paramount is that of the tertiary institution across the state, the new administration must find a common ground to resolve the perennial crisis permanently.

“Education is an area that must be given adequate attention because any government that fails the youths would be faced with the consequences of insecurity, hence, the need to tackle this issue holistically. Also, the issue of LAUTECH must be dealt with permanently.

Education Sector Should Get Adequate Attention – Teacher

Trust in the capacity of the Osun Governor-elect, Gboyega Oyetola to meet the expectations of the people has manifested through his election, a Secondary School Teacher in Osun has said.

“As a professional and stakeholder in the education sector in Osun, the area that needs urgent attention is education.

“Although, the outgoing administration of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has done massively well in the provision of the state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities and conducive environment for teaching and learning in our schools, but the incoming administration has a lot to do in many areas to boost the performance of teachers and students.

On Opon Imo, the outgoing administration has good intention of introducing it to students. This is to make the students have all the textbooks in a single compact and this will also makes them to be ICT compliant, but this laudable project has been abused, because many of these students turned it into a viewing tablet by infusing pornography films and all sorts of musical videos into the tablets.

“Therefore, the incoming administration should review the project, and compliment it with the provision of textbooks to the students, which at the end of every term will be returned.

The administration of Aregbesola has done a lot in boosting the morale of teachers in the state, and among these initiatives are the opportunities for teachers to reach level “17” in their career like their counterparts in the civil service. The Government also appointed three tutors general which is an equivalent of permanent secretary among teachers and many other incentives.

“The incoming administration is expected to build on this by providing regular seminar, in service and periodic training for teachers like their counterparts in the civil service. Apart from this, teachers are not exposed to any gratification whatsoever from any quarters but their only source of income is their salary and if this salary is not paid on time, they become demoralised.

“Another important expectation from the incoming administration to address squarely is the issue of indiscipline and thuggery among students.

“Some students have seen thuggery as a flourishing venture. This is because in their immediate environment, they can see some notable thugs that are thriving in this dastardly act without check. The incoming administration should urgently look into it.

On School uniform, although, the outgoing administration has done well by providing school uniform for students free of charge. This noble idea is good, but the idea of using the same school uniform for all the school is a thing that the incoming administration should look into. This is because it is now difficult to clearly identify the students of a particular school from some students of unknown school who can come around to foment trouble

“Also, some miscreants who are not students sometimes use the uniform to gain access into schools to forment trouble.
