Read-A-Thon: GWR Confirms Impeccable As Record Holder

The Guinness World Record on Thursday, confirmed former Student Union President of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Ajao Samson as world record holder for longest reading aloud Marathon, with 215 hours and two seconds.

This was confirmed on the official website of the Guinness World Record, stating “The longest marathon reading aloud is 215 hr 2 sec and was achieved by Samson Ajao (Nigeria) in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, from 6 to 15 May 2024.

“Samson chose this record to inspire a reading culture and development in literacy.”

Also, in a congratulatory message, National Association of Nigerian students (NANS) congratulated the Iwo-born bibliophile, Samson for his recent accomplishment of becoming world record holder for longest reading aloud Marathon.

NANS also asserted that “This world record is a shining testament to your resilience and your dedication to pushing boundaries, breaking barriers, and achieving the extraordinary. Your feat is a source of inspiration to thousands of Nigerian students, proving that with hard work, focus, and dedication, nothing is impossible. You have shown us all that dreams can indeed become reality with the right mindset and effort.

“Your journey to this historic accomplishment is one that embodies the core values of NANS: excellence, leadership, and service to the student community. Your success not only uplifts you personally but serves as a victory for all Nigerian students. It reaffirms that we are capable of achieving global recognition through our intellectual efforts and passion for learning.

“As we celebrate your success, we urge you to continue being a beacon of hope and motivation for other students across Nigeria. Nevertheless, excited Ajao Samson who confirmed his confirmation as present world record holder for longest reading aloud Marathon to Osun Defender expressed appreciation to God and supporters all over the world.

He added that “This was achieved because God made it possible, and because of the love, support and cooperation of my supporters. I am happy and grateful.”

Recall that Ajao Samson attempted the longest reading aloud Marathon from 6th to the 15th of May 2024 at the Adolak Conference Hall in Osogbo, Osun State.
