Award-winning author and filmmaker, Onyeka Nwelue has shocked the people of IPOB with his new statement in the first episode of Linda Ikeji TVs The Report Card. According to him;
“The so-called Biafra agitators can go and kill themselves if they don’t like what I’m saying. Nnamdi Kanu has come to scam people just like other scammers. Biafra is Ojukwu’s dream. Where are his kids? See we need to stop deceiving ourselves. If we want a sovereign nation, we should call it another name.”
“I have always told people that we can call it ‘Igbo Republic’ because Biafra is synonymous to Ego. I know that Biafra started because there was an egoistic war betwen Gowon and Ojukwu. It was a personal vendetta.”
“We are not the same people in this counthy. We are different culturally. We don’t eat the same food. We must try to understand our differences first, and we are all very different.”
“I am clamouring for an Igbo republic, but not to be called Biafra. I want Igbo people to have their own nation where everybody will speak Igbo. I do not like that I live in the same country with Yourubas, Fulanis and Hausas.”
Onyeka Nwelue also talked about his mother’s hometown “Uguta” a town that has produced so many influential people in Nigeria which still has no electricity. He said it was unfortunate that most people were selfish and was one of the reasons for the ignorant IPOB drama.
He did admit that he hated to live in a country with Yorubas and Fulanis but refused to admit that the statement in itself was a hate speech. He said there was no such thing as hate speech in Igbo language, hence the word was useless.
