On May 15, 2005, a staunch member of the then Action Congress AC and a leading governorship aspirant under the platform of the party, Alhaji Alabi Hassan Olajoku was murdered in cold blood by Assasins at the popular Gbongan Junction in state of Osun.

It was during the struggle for the emancipation of Osun from the ruling party PDP and the administration of Olagunsoye Oyinlola.

Olajoku, who hails from Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government area of Osun was a leading light in Politics and a Progressive to the core whose efforts among others culminated in the acceptability of the Action Congress by the people and the unanimous decision of the people to send Oyinlola’s government packing.

His death during an encounter with “Assasins” is largely believed to be Political due to his instrumental support to the progressive cause and his perception as a threat to the then PDP government.

In memory of his soul, the immediate past administration in the state of Osun under Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola decided to immortalize him by turning the spot of the sad event into the “Hassan Olajoku Park” located in the Gbongan city centre to celebrate his hard work and commitment to the course that brought good governance to the state of the virtuous.

May Allah Continue to rest his soul.
