Buba Galadima, former national secretary of Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), or Tony Momoh, ex-chairman of CPC, are being tipped by former members of the party for the post of the secretary of the government of the federation (SGF).
Newsmen reported that current SGF, Babachir Lawal was suspended after he was accused of awarding contracts without recourse to due process.
In a statement on Monday, the former CPC members on the platform of Southern Mandate of Nigeria (SMN) said Galadima and Momoh were personalities that would not compromise on any issue meant for the welfare of Nigerians.
They said Nigerians were in need of an SGF who would work with the president to bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians.
“There is no doubt that Nigerians are in need of capable hand to man the office of SGF that will join the president to bring smiles to their faces in the second half of this administration,” the statement signed by Ikonomwan Francis, leader of SMN, read.
“Prince Tony Momoh and Engr. Buba Galadima are personalities who will never compromise on an issue that is for good of Nigeria people and so, will ensure that such laudable program is fully implemented.”
The group said Nigerians were suffering because most of the people in government were alien to the change programmes promised to Nigerians by Buhari.
They said after working so hard to ensure that Buhari got into government “political monsters” relegated them to the position of second fiddle.
“For instance where was the current chairman and managing director of NDDC, managing director of Nexim Bank, chairman of NPA and host of others when we were labouring to build for Mr President?” it read.
“We must unite to resist this handful political monsters who are hell bent on making every one of us to play a second fiddle role in a government we laboured to build for years.
“We make bold to say that there is serious hunger and starvation in the land, the exchange rate of dollars has sky rocketed, prices of goods and services are on the increase on daily basis, all because the cabals are alien to the 14 years developmental plan of the defunct CPC.
“Imagine what is happening to the much publicised Anchor Borrowers Programme in various State today? How about the Social Investment and Empowerment Program, has it been able to achieve it’s set goals?”
