Reps Aspirant Mourns Oyeweso’s Death, Says Ede Lost A Reformer
Prof. AbdGaffar Siyan Oyeweso, Pro-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and Provost of the Post-Graduate College, Osun State University, has died at the age of 64.
Hon. Mansur Oladimeji Tijani (MOTIJ), from Ede North Local Government and an aspirant for the Ede/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, described the death of the scholar as a monumental loss to Osun State and Nigeria’s academic community.
Tijani said Prof. Oyeweso was an accomplished historian, disciplined administrator and a committed educational reformer whose impact would be felt long after his passing.
According to him, the late professor devoted his life to the advancement of knowledge, institutional development and the mentoring of young scholars across the country.
He extended his condolences to the Oyeweso family, the management of OAU and UNIOSUN, as well as students and colleagues of the deceased, praying for strength and comfort for all bereaved.
