The House of Representatives on Thursday mandated its committees on power, police affairs, interior, national security and intelligence and federal judicial to examine and find out ways to prosecute vandals of electricity infrastructure across the country.

This resolution followed an adopted motion sponsored by Hon. Francis Charles Uduyok.

The lawmaker, in his lead debate, said the failure to prosecute vandals is majorly responsible for the epileptic supply of power in the federation.

Uduyok disclosed that the country loses about five hundred million naira (N500,000,000) annually because of vandalization of electrical equipment.

He said section 1 (9) and (10) of the miscellaneous offences act, cap. M17, laws of the federation of Nigeria, 2004 prescribes punishment for vandalization of power equipment.
