The budgetary allocation of the presidential yacht has been scrapped by the House of Representatives.
The House thereafter, moved the proposed sum for the yacht to students’ loan, thereby increasing allocation for the loans to 10bn as against 5.5bn.
This was disclosed by the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriations, Abubakar Bichi Abubakar on Thursday.
The lawmaker said the scrapping became necessary following low budgetary allocation for students.
The budgetary allocation of the Ministry of Defence was also increased from 476bn to 546bn following security concerns.
Bichi also disclosed that the minimum wage for workers was considered and approved for onward transmission to the executive while promising proper legislative oversight to ensure 100 per cent implementation.
