Social Democratic Party (SDP), a once powerful political party in the military era of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, has come out bold to say that it is set to uproot the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the seat of power in the 2019 general elections.
The party, under which platform the late MKO Abiola won the 1993 presidential election but was annulled by former military president Ibrahim Babangidda, came into limelight in 2015 after going into oblivion after the annulment of the 1993 election.
Delta state chairman of the party, Oke Idawene, said his party was poised to win power from the two main parties in the country, noting that there is repositioning in the party with to winning the elective positions and bringing the party to its pride of place.
Idawene, who was elected chairman of forum of SDP state chairmen in Abuja, told NAIJ.com that his party is on a rescue mission, insisting that the two main parties in the nation have failed Nigerians and that SDP is coming with full force to deliver the needed democratic dividends to Nigerians.
He said SDP is prepared to serve Nigeria and open opportunity for all Nigerians, adding that Nigerians have suffered too long and now it’s time to bring succor, hope and meaning to the lives of the average Nigerian.
“We are restructuring for better government in 2019. The present politicians in power have failed all of us and SDP is coming to rescue the Nigerian state. The parties in power now are failures, the rebranded SDP will rescue the country from the bondage of the PDP and APC. We remain committed to the Nigerian project,” Idawene said.
