Residents of Osogbo, Osun State particularly those living along the Testing Ground/Oke-Baale axis of the recently completed Ring Road, have raised alarm over the growing breach of traffic rules, with many citing daily accidents caused by rampant one-way driving.
The issue was highlighted on social media platforms, notably X (formerly Twitter), with concerned citizens calling for urgent action from the Osun State Government, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) in Osun, and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
A tweet from @InsideOsogbo emphasized the need for immediate intervention, urging Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to address the matter.
The tweet pointed out that the situation is particularly dangerous at the Testing Ground and Oke-Baale axis, where one-way driving has become a regular occurrence, leading to accidents on a daily basis.
“The breach of traffic rules is becoming a major risk to public safety,” the tweet read.
Responding to the growing concern, residents like @AbdulMusawir_ emphasized how some motorists seem unbothered by the issue, calling it a “big problem” for Osogbo.

Similarly, @greatgadget10 pointed out that while the road improvement was initially welcomed, the recent development has only worsened the situation.
“Now that the other side of the road is tarred, some drivers find it difficult to adjust, which is totally unacceptable,” they said.
In another tweet, @teju_baby_ shared a personal experience of nearly being involved in an accident on the same road. “Driving against traffic is becoming a big issue. It’s particularly dangerous in a state where traffic management is lacking,” she said, expressing frustration with the situation.
Other residents, including @holuwapromo and @swan304, called for swift action from the authorities. @swan304 suggested that creating more turning points would ease traffic flow and reduce the temptation for drivers to use one-way routes.
“The distance to the nearest turn from the stadium is too long. It’s annoying to drive that far just to turn at Oke-Baale roundabout,” they said humorously, while still stressing the seriousness of the issue.
In light of these growing concerns, residents are urging relevant authorities to step in promptly and implement necessary measures to prevent further loss of life and property.
