Frustration is brewing in Ile-Ife, Osun State as residents, business owners, motorists, and students accuse Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke and President Bola Tinubu of neglecting the town’s decaying road network.

OSUN DEFENDER reports that from Lagere to Sabo, Iremo, Eleyele, Phase 1 and Phase 2, the deplorable state of the roads has continued to frustrate motorists, business owners, and residents alike, with potholes, flooding, and dust making daily movement a nightmare.

The Lagere flyover, flagged off by Governor Adeleke in May 2024, was meant to ease traffic congestion. But locals say the project has worsened the situation, cutting off access and leaving major routes in a deplorable state.

“We thought the flyover would be a blessing. Instead, it’s a curse. Customers avoid this place because they can’t navigate the bad roads. Sales have dropped drastically,” lamented Mrs. Funke Ajayi, a shop owner at Lagere.

Commercial drivers also voiced their anger. “From Sabo to Iremo, potholes have taken over. We spend more on vehicle repairs than what we make,” said Yusuf Akinyemi, a commercial driver.

Students of Obafemi Awolowo University are not spared either. “Transport fares have doubled because drivers avoid certain routes. It’s stressful getting to campus,” complained Adeola Omisore, a 300-level student.

Some residents warned that the state’s economy would continue to suffer unless urgent action was taken. “Bad roads kill business. This is not just about comfort; it’s about survival,” said Mr. Oladipo, a trader at Eleyele.
