Residents in the State of Osun have lauded the efforts of the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s administration in ensuring peace and banishing threats to the security of the State.
This is coming against the backdrop of the report released by the National Bureau of Statistics, ranking Osun as one of the safe States in Nigeria.
The residents interviewed by our correspondent in several towns and villages across the State hailed the government on the status of security in their different areas of residence.
A resident of Onward area, Osogbo, Tijani Lukman commended the security personnel for the excellent work they are doing to ensure peace in the State.
According to him, “there is peace in my own community which I believe is a reflection of how everywhere is in the state, if the story were different, we would have read it on the pages of newspapers or seen it on television.”
A female resident of the Ilesa area of the State Oyindamola Ibrahim, noted that since her relocation to the area, she has witnessed unabated peace and quiet and gave kudos to the government and the police for a job well done.
In her words, “The State of Osun is a cool place to live as far as I am concerned because where I come from, I did not experience it this way. I have never been robbed or molested since I relocated for the past few years.”
However, another resident, Habeeb Salami said “there is no way bad people will not exist in our communities; but if you listen to radio and read newspapers, you will see that they are being brought to book.
This shows that the State has no tolerance for such and makes me to think that our judicial system in the state is working effectively. The State government did not achieve this by mere words, but also by making adequate provision of ammunitions for the securities to conquer ritual killing, theft and cultism in the State.
The view of the people in lauding the government gives credence to the recently published report of the National Bureau of Statistics which ranked Osun as one of the secured States in the country.
It has been revealed that to achieve this feat in the area of security in the State, the Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s administration established Osun Citizens Meditation Center known as O-meditation, supplied 125 patrol vans to security agencies, provided an helicopter for aerial surveillance, regular financial supports for both local vigilante group and other security agencies, 25 fully equipped armoured personnel carriers, and recruitment of thousands of youths into Osun Sheriff Corps, traffic marshals and Edu-marshals, among other security measures put in place in the State.
