RevolutionNow: Court Strikes Out Treason Case Against Sowore, Bakare

A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday struck out the treasonable felony charges against the #RevolutionNow convener, Omoyele Sowore, and Olawale Bakare.

The Federal Government had last week discontinued the treasonable case against Sowore, who is also the Publisher of SaharaReporters.

The development was made known in a document by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi.

The document, dated February 15, 2024, was addressed to the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Abuja Division.

In the document, the government disclosed its intention to also discontinue the case against Sowore’s co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, aka Mandate.

The federal government arrested Sowore and Olawale Bakare, the co-defendants, in August 2019 for planning to organise a protest tagged #RevolutionNow.

They were accused of treason and attempt to overthrow former President Muhammadu Buhari.
