American rapper, William Leonard Roberts II, known professionally as Rick Ross, has suggested a collaboration with Portable, Odumodublvck, Asake, Amaarea, Uncle Waffles, and other African musicians.
In a recent video posted on his Instagram page, the Maybach Music head hinted at these potential partnerships.
Among the African artistes mentioned were Ghana’s Stonebwoy, Black Sheriff, and South Africa’s Nasty C.
He said: “I have a got a huge announcement. First and foremost I love Africa. I have been touring Africa for the last 15 years. I have been to over 13 different countries in Africa. I love the food, the culture. I love the fashion. And the world loves the music.
“So what I want to do is to bring more attention to Africa. Let us do a huge collaboration album. Myself, Brett Berish, all the amazing artistes in Africa, amazing producers, let us collaborate.
“I have been speaking on this for the last several years. It is time for Africa. I am ready to plant the flag big. I just want to help bring attention to Africa and all the amazing artistes. I just want to show love to African artiste.
“Let us start with Odumodublvck, Nigeria; Amaraae, Ghana; Uncle Waffles, South Africa, Portable, Nigeria; ElGrandeToto Morroco, Harmonize, Tanzania; Innoss’B, Congo; Camo, South Africa.”
The rapper has previously collaborated with P-Square, Yemi Alade, and Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz.
An influential figure in modern hip hop music, Rick Ross has become known for his “booming” vocal performance, “larger than life” persona, and vivid lyrical imagery.
