Rising COVID-19 Cases In Osun Continues As State Records 120 New Infections

Osun, on Tuesday, reported 120 new infections in its daily count, which is its highest ever number of daily confirmed cases.

This is the first time Osun has recorded a three-digit figure in a day since the index case was reported in March 2020. It is also the second time in about four days that it is reporting a daily highest, having reported 98 cases on Saturday, February 6.

In a data published by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) as part of its daily routine update, Osun’s reported 120 cases was second to Lagos’ 214 reported cases for the day, out of the country’s 1,056 new cases reported from 22 states.

The newly reported cases also saw Osun climb to 15th place on the NCDC board showing the impact of the coronavirus infection on states of the country. Osun’s caseload now stands at 1,925.

The tally of the 20 other states include: FCT (116), Plateau (88), Ebonyi (75), Kwara (73), Gombe (70), Ondo (57), Rivers (47), Akwa Ibom (38), Edo (25), Oyo (23), Kano (22), Delta (19) Katsina (18), Borno (16), Nasarawa (13), Ekiti (8), Ogun (8), Bauchi (4), Benue(1) and Jigawa (1).

Till date, 141447 cases have been confirmed, 115755 cases have been discharged and 1694 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
