Rivers Saga: Another Factional Speaker Emerges

The crisis rocking Rivers State political space on Wednesday evening took a new turn as another fictional Speaker, Victor Oko Jumbo, representing Bonny Constituency, emerged in the Rivers Assembly.

Osun Defender reports that the governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara has been at loggerheads with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The crisis has led to the intervention of President Bola Tinubu.

A peace deal was reportedly brokered between the parties by President Bola Tinubu, returning all involved in the impasse to the trenches.

However, the peace deal has been condemned in some quarters with many believing it favours the Minister of Federal Capital Territory.

Also, the members of the House of Assembly who are loyal to Wike have been threatening to impeach the governor.

They said Fubara has been disrespecting the President by not adhering to the peace deal.
