Rivers Saga: PDP Govs Move To End Tussle, Meet Wike Today
In a bid to end the ongoing political battle between the Governor of Rivers, Siminalayi Fubara, and his political godfather, Nyesom Wike, Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party will today meet the Minister of Federal Capital Territory.
Osun Defender had reported that there has been turbulence in Rivers state as some members of the state Assembly believed to be loyal to the former governor of the state attempted to impeach the state governor.
Also, loyalists of the state Governor stormed the assembly complex in protest against the plot.
However, the PDP Governors’ Forum, under the leadership of the Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, in a communiqué read after a meeting of the group at the Oyo State Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday, commended President Bola Tinubu for his intervention in the political crisis.
A statement by the forum’s Director-General, Cyril Maduabum, on Wednesday, disclosed that the decision to visit Wike was reached at the forum’s meeting on Tuesday.
The visit is slated to hold in the FCT Minister’s office, by 11 am.
The statement read in part, “The Chairman of the Forum, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, hereby requests member Governors to converge at his residence, No 1 Miriam Aloma Mukhtar Street, Asokoro, opposite Rivers State Governors Lodge at 10.45 am to accompany him for the visit.”
