The Super Eagles will in every possible means try to stop Poland’s top striker Robert Lewandowski from adding to his fantastic international goals tally when they clash in Wroclaw from 8.45pm on Friday night.
The Poland captain has scored 51 goals in 91 international games and the Uper Eagles chief coach Gernot Rohr is working on a plan to stop the Bayern Munich striker.
“Coach Rohr is working on how his defenders will fare against big name and free-scoring strikers and has directed his boys to ensure that the likes of Lewandowski are kept in check,” Co-ordinator of the Super Eagles Patrick Pascal told an Abuja radio station.
“The training and team talks have been on how to be solid and united in defending. Play it tight and be strong in possession and not be wasteful in front of goal. I must tell you that the boys are responding well and I am sure they will do well against Poland.”
The former Super Eagles player expressed satisfaction with the response of the players to invitation and training, adding that the boys are really fired up for the two friendly games against Poland and Serbia.
Also, Leon Balogun who plies his trade in the Bundesliga with Mainz said he knows Lewandowski very well and that he would be up to the challenge of stopping the Pole from doing any damage.
Lewandowski, 29, has been one of Europe’s best strikers for several years and he has scored 32 goals in 37 games in all competitions this season
