Romelu Lukaku has called for the Premier League try look into the America’s major sporting leagues – by hosting an All-Star game.
The NFL, NBA and NHL all host exhibition matches for their respective sports, with the top players from around each league coming together in one show piece.
Major League Soccer also hosts a mid-season game, where fans vote for stars they would like to see play on the pitch..
They have taken on a visiting Premier League side with Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all being used as opponents in recent years.
Here’s an idea for you guys… the nba has all-star game! Don’t you guys think we should organise one in the @premierleague.. The north vs the south! And the fans vote… what do you guys think? @premierleague @FA
Lukaku scored the equaliser in the win over Chelsea at the weekend
Lukaku is spending the three days off that the Manchester United team have been granted by manager Jose Mourinho by visiting New York.
During his time there, he tweeted: “Here’s an idea for you guys… the nba has all-star game!
“Don’t you guys think we should organise one in the @ premierleague?
“The north vs the south! And the fans vote… what do you guys think?”
A north team could combine the best players at Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.
It would see the likes of Mo Salah, Kevin De Bruyne and Alexis Sanchez teaming up.
Meanwhile, the south could see an exciting combination of Eden Hazard, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane, as Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham stars link up.
In the NBA this year, fans picked two captains – LeBron James and Steph Curry – who then subsequently picked their own teams with alternate selections.
Lukaku is a big basketball fan and attended the clash between the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls on Monday evening, watching on from courtside.
