THE roof of a year old COVID-19 Isolation Centre built at the State Specialist Hospital, Asubiaro, Osogbo, State of Osun has been blown off.
Also, the ceiling and window of the building have been detached, making the facility to be untidy.
The Isolation centre was built in early 2020 during the ravaging Coronavirus pandemic to curtail the spread of the disease.
OSUN DEFENDER visited the COVID-19 Isolation Centre on Wednesday morning and confirmed the deteriorating condition of the building.
According to a worker of the isolation centre who spoke under the condition of anonymity, the Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Engr. Remi Omowaiye, had on Tuesday inspected the facility to know the condition of the place.
According to the worker, Omowaiye recorded all that was needed to be fixed on the building.
The official disclosed to OSUN DEFENDER that the roofing sheet of the isolation centre has been changed on three different occasions since it was built last year.
In a telephone interview with the medium, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu, said, “If anything got damaged at the Isolation Centre, it is the responsibility of the government to fix it.”
The commissioner added that they have put all necessary measures in place to fix the damaged items at the isolation centre.
However, some security operatives who were in mufti have been deployed to the isolation centre by the state government yesterday to prevent people from gaining access into the premises of the building, apparently to prevent them from taking pictures.
