Ruben Sets 13 Goal Target In The NWPLeague

Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) leading goal scorer Charity Reuben has set a 13-goal target for herself to claim the prized top scorer’s gong.

The Ibom Angels markswoman has scored eight goals, two above her closest challengers Tessy Biawho of Bayelsa Queens and Ijeoma Obi of Delta Queens in the ongoing top-flight.

Reuben said that after her side regretfully missed the Super Four spot, her aim is to clinch the top-flight individual award.

“It’s quite sad that we missed the Super Four ticket despite working very hard to earn our first ever ticket.

“Right now my attention has shifted to winning the individual top scorer’s award on a record 12 or 13 goals.

“I lead the top scorer’s campaign at the moment on eight goals, two goals above the duo Tessy Biawho and Ijeoma Obi.

“Scoring four or five goals look a tall order, especially as we have just two matches to end the ongoing season.

“However, I strongly believe it’s achievable and I have set my mind towards making it a reality.

“It’s a target and if I failed to hit the goal at the end of the day I would not have failed to garner enough goals to earn me the top scorer’s award,” said the Uyo landladies goal poacher to supersport.com.

Reuben said her side look forward to tripping Abia Angels in Thursday’s Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) matchday 13 clash at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

“Yes, today’s (Thursday) clash is the battle of ‘Angels’ and I strongly believe that Ibom Angels will emerge winners at the end of the day.

“We are not foreseeing a difficult match against Abia Angels after we beat the same side 2-1 in the first fixture clash in Uyo.

“We need the whole points in Umuahia to chance to finish the league campaign on high,” said Reuben.

The Orange Girls are fourth on the seven-team NWPL group A log on 12 points, 11 behind leaders Bayelsa Queens, whom they will engage at home next Wednesday for the last game of the season.
