Ibadan, Oyo State capital, is facing a severe fuel scarcity crisis, resulting in long queues at most petrol stations across the city.

The situation, which has been ongoing for the past week, has intensified, with many stations shutting their gates as the scarcity worsened.

It was gathered that areas like Sango, Ijokodo, Apete, Awotan, Bodija, Agodi Gate, Total Garden, Yemetu, and UI-Secretariat Road are among the worst affected.

The scarcity has led to a dramatic increase in petrol prices, with independent marketers charging between N950 and N1200 per litre, while stations affiliated with major marketers like the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) have set prices around N580 per litre.

BOVAS stations have also raised their prices from N650 to N670 per litre.

The sharp rise in prices has left many commuters stranded, struggling to find affordable fuel.
