A gentleman staying at a prestigious five-star hotel awoke in discomfort to find a scorpion affixed to his testicles, prompting him to contemplate taking legal recourse against the upscale establishment.
Michael Farchi, a guest at the high-end Venetian resort in Las Vegas, is contemplating legal action after experiencing “excruciating pain” when a scorpion stung his genitals while he slept.
Farchi, hailing from Agoura Hills, California, was lodging at The Venetian during the Christmas period when he was abruptly awakened in the middle of the night by excruciating pain.
‘I just felt like someone was stabbing me in my private area,’ Daily Mail reported Farchi as saying.
After going to the restroom to investigate, he saw a scorpion ‘hanging’ on his underwear.
Photographs from the dreaded scorpion attack show proof of the terrifying, bright orange, eight-legged animal.
The orange scorpion was most likely an Arizona bark scorpion—the only type of the species that are considered ‘deadly’.
In one of the photos, the poisonous creature was attached to Farchi’s blue pair of Reebok boxers, standing up to his claims of the biting incident.
Staff at the Venetian resort don’t know how the scorpion got into the hotel room, according to Farchi – who said he didn’t even want to know.
‘It just was under my cover,’ the unlucky hotel guest said.
Rooms at the luxury Las Vegas resort can range from $250 to a whopping $2,500 per night.
Farchi filed a medical incident report at 8 am., stating ‘I have been bitten by a scorpion at my groin/testicles.’
When asked what injuries were sustained – Farchi wrote, ‘a lot of pain.’
The medical report asked responders to indicate which body part was ‘hurt’ using an ‘X’ accompanied by a sketch of the human body. Farchi drew an ‘X’ over the groin area of the picture.
‘When you check into a hotel, you expect to be safe,’ Farchi’s attorney, Brian Virag, said.
Virag said this has been a traumatic experience for his client.
‘I’m certain that The Venetian, like every major hotel, has policies and procedures in place to avoid something like this,’ the attorney said.
‘However,’ he added, ‘it’s one thing to have policies and procedures in place, it’s another thing to make sure they’re followed.’
The Venetian has claimed that procedures were followed. ‘The resort has protocols for all incidents, and we can confirm they were followed in this incident,’ the hotel said in a statement.
