S’Court Verdict: Don’t Be Demoralised, Abia PDP Guber Candidate Tells Party Members
The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State, Okey Ahiwe, has admonished members of the party in the state to remain strong despite the Supreme Court judgement, which dismissed his appeal against Governor Alex Otti of the Labour Party, LP.
Ahiwe, who addressed PDP faithful in the state in Umuahia on Saturday, during the first general meeting following the Supreme Court judgement, told the party members not to be demoralized but to prepare for the greater prospects that await them in the future.
He thanked God, the party leaders, members and the PDP legal team for their unalloyed support during the 2023 gubernatorial elections, and the protracted legal battle from the tribunal to the Supreme Court.
He declared that the task of repositioning the party for future victories has already commenced.
Ahiwe called on all party members to put the disappointment of the past behind them, and refresh their commitment to the PDP.
“I have since accepted the Supreme Court verdict in good faith as it represents, in my perspective, a fleeting moment of history beyond which I see greater prospects for the future.
“I therefore urge all members of the Abia PDP family, including my supporters across party lines, not to be demoralized but to stay united and focused on the task of building a more prosperous Abia as we study unfolding events and work together in the best interests of the State,” Ahiwe said.
Earlier in his speech, the State PDP Chairman, Allwell Asiforo Okere, commended Ahiwe and his running mate, Jasper Uche, and all legislators elected on the platform of the party, for their dogged struggle.
