The Gboleru Ruling House of Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun local government area of the Osun State, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory at the Supreme Court, describing it as an affirmation of the people’s mandate.
According to the ruling house, there is no force that can stop the will of God as regards the administration of Governor Adeleke just as it commended the judiciary for protecting the interest of the people and ensures justice is done.
Speaking on behalf of the ruling house, Prince Kayode Oyetunji said the judgement of the Apex Court has reaffirmed and strengthened the love and confidence the people of the state have in our democratic system that produced Governor Adeleke.

Oyetunji charged Adeleke to continue in his strides to reposition and rebuild the State in line with his people-oriented policies and programmes while promoting rule of law, justice and equity including correcting naked injustice done to Gboleru Ruling House by the previous government of the state. Oyetunji concluded by praying for his success in office.
The head of the Gboleru Ruling House whose turn is to produce the next Akirun of Ikirunland after the demise of Late HRM Adedeji II, Mogaji of the house, Prince Alimi Olaleye, however asked the state government to release the report and recommendations of the Chieftaincy Affairs Committee set up by the Governor as regards Akirun of Ikirun stool.
Prince Olaleye added that Governor Adeleke being a product of rule of law and justice should not delay release of white paper on Ikirun Chieftaincy matter because justice delayed may not only give rooms for rumours but may lead to perversion of justice.
“Though, we, Gboleru Ruling House, believe in the leadership of our God-fearing-governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and we are convinced that he will adhere strictly to the rule of law and ensure prevalence of justice and equity.
Also, an elder of the Gboleru Ruling House, Prince Lamidi Abefe, in his contribution, appealed to the Governor Adeleke and his team to act on a letter Gboleru Ruling House submitted on May 5, 2023 through its legal representatives to the Governor, Solicitor General, Permanent Secretary, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Ministry, Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government.
Prince Abefe stressed that all illegal administrative steps taken by the then government of ex-governor Oyetola after Gboleru Ruling House has appealed the decision of Osun State High Court should be cancelled not minding whose ox is to be gored.
“The cancellation is to demonstrate that illegality must be eleminated and not promoted, and that there should be no rooms for abuse of power, and that ALL powers and authority belong to God.”
In the letter addressed to the Governor by the ruling house’s lawyer, Mr. G. A. Adesina, the ruling house noted that it was yet aware of the report and recommendations of the committee as well as the white paper from the state government on the Akirun stool.
Made available to OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the letter reads in part: “Our clients approached the Osun State Chieftaincy Affairs Committee under the Chairmanship of Reverend Bunmi Jenyo set up by your administration in November 2022, to review the appointments of all new Obas made by the former administration with effect from July 16 to November 26, 2022.
“Our Clients’ memorandum dated 3/12/2022 was presented to the said committee on 8/12/2022.”
“Up till now, our clients are not aware of the said committee’s report and recommendations, as well as the state government’s white paper in respect of the Akinrun of Ikirun chieftaincy, copies of which our clients are eagerly looking forward to have soonest in order to guide them on further steps to be taken on the matter.”
Gboleru ruling house therefore demanded the release and publication of the report and the recommendations of the committee.
It also demanded for certified true copies of the report and recommendations of the committee.
The ruling house urged Adeleke to continue observing due process and rule of law in all steps to be taken by his administration in respect of the Akirun stool in order not to prejudice and overreach the pending appeal and motion for stay of execution.
The Gboleru Ruling House noted that the terms of reference of the Committee did not go beyond July 16, 2022, though the injustice done to Gboleru Ruling House by the government of ex-governor Oyetola started on November 19, 2021 which was two days after the ex-Governor Oyetola and his team members received a letter and notification of the ongoing appeal case.
“As a result, all previous government’s steps and actions leading to purported selection of a candidate for Akirun stool on November 19, 2021 after Gboleru Ruling House had appropriately served the then government appeal paper and notification, and subsequent issuance of appointment letter were flagrant violations of the rule of law,” Gboleru Ruling House said.
The Ruling House added they believe that the God-fearing Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, an apostle of rule of law will take a bold step to correct all the wrong administrative steps and actions of the previous government regarding Akirun stool and ensure all parties maintain status quo as at November 17, 2021.
