The Kaduna State chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has refuted claims that it rejected the membership of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing the reports as false and misleading.

The party insisted that it remains committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Darius Kurah, and released on Friday, the party clarified that there was no truth to the report making rounds in the media.

Kurah stressed that the SDP is open to all individuals who align with its values and vision for Kaduna State.

“We categorically deny the allegations made in the report and assert that the SDP remains committed to its values of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity,” the statement read.

“The party’s leadership has been in talks with various stakeholders, including former Governor El-Rufai, to explore possibilities of working together to build a better future for Kaduna State.”

The SDP emphasised that its membership process is democratic and transparent, allowing anyone who meets the requirements to join.

The party maintained that it is not in the habit of dismissing or rejecting potential members who share its vision for good governance and social justice.

Kurah urged the public to disregard what he described as a “misleading report” and instead focus on the party’s commitment to addressing the challenges facing the people of Kaduna State.

“Our primary focus remains good governance, economic development, and social justice. We are confident that our party will continue to gain momentum and ultimately defeat the current government in 2027,” the statement added.
