‘Seclusion Is Idolatry, Designed To Enslave Monarchs’ – Oluwo Condemns Traditional Rites
The Oluwo of Iwo, in Iwo Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has rejected traditional seclusion rites for monarchs, describing them as a plot to “enslave kings and lure them to idolatry.”
The monarch stated this in a video posted on his official Facebook page on Wednesday.
Oba Akanbi said there is no chief knowledgeable enough to teach a traditional ruler how royalty works, and no lecture any chief can give a king.
“There is no chief who knows how royalty works and there is no lecture any chief can give a traditional ruler,” he said.
According to him, the practice of secluding newly installed monarchs serves no real royal purpose.
“All these seclusion they are going is a way to enslave kings and lure them to idolatry. There is nothing serious they do in seclusion. It is not that they are teaching the king how to dress or take steps. They are only there to make sacrifices,” the Oluwo stated.
The monarch also said he chose to follow what God wants since ascending the throne, adding that he enjoys the support of his people.
“I followed what God wants and I am loved by the people of Iwo. I did not fight any Iwo Indigene and thank God, I am not a king that is interested in selling land,” he said.
