A 25-year-old security guard, Daniel Amedu, was on Monday arraigned before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing diesel N4.2 million worth of diesel.
Amedu was arraingned on a there count charges bordering on conspiracy, theft and negligence to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Femi Oluwadare told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on June 10 at Agricare Hatchery Company, Oluyole in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
Oluwadare alleged that the defendant’s negligence led to the theft of 3,715 litres of diesel worth N4, 272, 250 belonging to the aforementioned company.
He alleged that the defendant neglected his duty as a security guard at the aforementioned company, and thereby enabling thieves to steal the diesel.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (9), 515 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mr Maruff Mudashiru, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Aug. 8 for hearing.
