Two foreigners with explosives and other dangerous weapons have been reportedly arrested by Akwa-Ibom Security Operatives.
This was revealed by Akwa-Ibom Police spokesperson SP Odiko Mcdon, while addressing pressmen at the police headquarters in Uyo, on Tuesday.
He added that the suspects are from Cameroon.
The PPRO identified the suspects as –Adede De Black, Fombutu and a Nigerian man called Bernard Mfam, from Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State.
According to him, “the suspects were arrested following the efforts of men of the AIG Border Patrol Squad along Okobo-Oron highway during a stop and search operation in the area.”
He said, that the items recovered include two bags of dynamite (explosives) charms and other dangerous weapons which had been conveyed to an undisclosed destination.
SP Odiko further explained that the police were able to nab the suspects following the introduction of new innovations in the security architecture pioneered by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Amegieme Andrew, in collaboration with other security agencies in the state.
While assuring residents of the security of lives and property in all parts of the state, the State Police Command appealed for continued support from stakeholders to make the job of securing Akwa Ibom easier.
