Security Operatives Take Over CBEX Office In Ibadan
Armed security men were on Tuesday sighted at the office of the embattled digital trading platform, China Beijing Equity Exchange (CBEX), around the Oke Ado axis of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the deployment followed unrest, during which enraged investors stormed the CBEX office in protest against the sudden crash of the platform that reportedly wiped off funds from users’ accounts.
The mob, many of whom claimed to have lost their life savings, had looted furniture, electronics and other valuables from the office premises during the chaos.
The CBEX debacle, which has now ballooned into a nationwide controversy, has left thousands of Nigerians stranded and devastated.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has since declared that CBEX is not registered to operate in Nigeria, branding its activities illegal under the newly signed Investment and Securities Act 2025.
